If your organization needs a reset to adapt to a changed world, strategic visioning is a must. The process can be virtual or face-to-face. It’s visual, and it’s proven.
What works in times of uncertainty is to have a “North Star” vision, and to combine it with clear action plans and a commitment to learn and iterate priorities. The Grove’s visual, online approach allows you to bring together the best thinking of your organization, department, or team to align on what you need to do to restart, grow, and thrive. In this five, half-day virtual workshop, you will learn:

  • How to lead a Strategic Visioning process online or in person.
  • A system of Strategic Visioning models and tools that is designed to iterate and adapt.
  • How to assess your current situation and critical choices.
  • How to co-create and align on a compelling vision.
  • Processes and practices for prioritizing and agreeing on the greatest opportunities and immediate action plans.
  • Ways to ensure that stakeholder voices and perspectives are included.
  • Visualization techniques and online applications for interactive, high-engagement work that hold a big picture and details at the same time.
  • The value of direct experience in how virtual planning can work successfully.
This workshop will embody the latest Grove learning regarding online work. We find that working virtually moves more slowly and takes more preparation. It benefits from pre-work and assignments that are completed offline, so that the online sessions concentrate on dialogue and understanding, not the basics. It benefits from being facilitated by a team—in this case two of our most senior consultants with years of experience in Strategic Visioning.

Key Components

  • Zoom/Whiteboarding/Sketching apps: participants will gain direct experience in the most reliable and accessible online tools for doing virtual work
  • Virtual Facilitation: participants will practice leading breakout groups through stages of a strategic-visioning planning process with peer and consultant coaching and feedback.
  • Graphic capture: hands-on practice recording dialogue in real time, supported by our graphic tools and online applications.
  • How to co-create and align on a compelling vision.
  • Case studies: learn from past Grove strategic-visioning engagements that shed light on the facilitative processes underlying this work.
  • Workshop kit: your workshop kit is loaded with facilitative tips and tools, including leader guides for the Graphic Guide templates used in the process, and a Strategic Visioning Agenda Planning Kit that includes process suggestions for use with clients.
  • Working group assignments: The format—two half days in the workshop, one half day group assignments, two half days back in the workshop—supports time for self-study and hands-on small-group assignments outside the workshop setting.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You want to lead groups through a restart/reset planning process with confidence.
  • Your team needs a guiding vision amid uncertainty and alignment on immediate actions.
  • You need to learn how to do planning in a virtual setting
  • You want to learn easy ways to facilitate visually that don’t require artistic skill.
